The Marriott Vacation Club recently announced that they purchased 71 rooms at the classically-historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington D.C., and plans to make it part of their Marriott Vacation Club Ownership program. Owners will have access to the rooms beginning August 1, 2015.  The president and chief executive officer of Marriott Worldwide, Stephen P. Weisz, was quoted to say, “This is simply an amazing property with so much history and character. Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas have long been desired by our Owners as a favorite place to experience a destination that has something for everyone to enjoy and explore.”

The Hotel’s History

Located in the heart of Washington D.C. on the prominent Connecticut Street, the Mayflower Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1925, this national treasure has seen its fair share of famous guests such as U.S. presidents, countless world leaders, and a number of dignitaries; it’s not hard to see why! Additionally, when Marriott Vacation Club members stay at the Mayflower Hotel, they have unlimited access to the other facilities offered at the hotel, including the fully equipped business center and the exercise room.

What to See

Just stepping foot outside the hotel opens up a world full of options for exploring. Its central Washington D.C. location makes all of the famous and historic sites completely accessible. Take a trolley, boat, or a Segway tour around the city to take in the memorable sites of our nation’s capital. After a day of exploring, guests and Owners need to check out the Mayflower’s restaurant: the EDGAR Bar & Kitchen, to satisfy the appetites they worked up that day. The restaurant offers traditional American cuisine, which is served in an extremely modern restaurant atmosphere. EDGAR Bar & Kitchen is conveniently open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
