For example, an overnight booking on Friday or Saturday often costs more points than overnight stays Sunday through Thursday. Here’s a simple formula to get your estimated nightly rate:
- Check how many points your stay will require. This depends on your resort, room type, view, and the season you’re booking. For example, a standard view deluxe studio at the Polynesian in summer might need 20 points for a night.
- Multiply the required points by your annual cost per point. This includes what you paid for your contract plus yearly dues, averaged out over the contract’s life. So, if your cost per point is $11.93 and you need 20 points, multiply them together.
- See the difference. In this example, 20 points x $11.93 = $239 per night out-of-pocket.
Compare that to the regular cash price—which can easily top $800 per night plus taxes in peak summer months—and you see just how much value DVC can offer.

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is consistently one of the cheapest DVC resorts per point on the resale market. It is also currently the cheapest resort to buy points directly from DVC, at $150 per point and a minimum purchase of 100 points. This resort may be more affordable than other DVC resorts because of its location. Vero Beach Resort is not on Disney World or Disneyland property, so it is a less popular vacation destination. Like Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Hilton Head Island Resort points are often some of the most affordable due to its distance from the theme parks. This resort is on the shores of scenic Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, so a stay here is truly an escape from the buzz of Disney’s theme parks. Again, this could be why points are cheaper here than at most other DVC resorts. Some people book DVC vacations just to visit the theme parks. Old Key West (Exp. 2042)
But what’s the cheapest DVC resort on Walt Disney World property? Disney’s Old Key West. The Old Key West (OKW) DVC contracts that expire in 2042 make Old Key West Resort one of the most affordable Walt Disney World resorts to buy on the resale market. Disney has extended the expiration date for Old Key West contracts to 2057, so the demand for shorter contracts isn’t huge. In fact, Disney no longer sells OKW contracts that expire in 2042, so they are only available for resale.
Currently, extended Old Key West contracts on the resale market cost around $30 more per point than OKW contracts expiring in 2042. So, if you don’t want to be tied down to a DVC membership until 2057 and want to save some money, consider buying an Old Key West contract that expires in 2042. You can enjoy the perks of staying on Disney World property for over 20 years and potentially save thousands of dollars.
